Moonlight Princess vs Starlight Princess

Moonlight Princess is built on the same formula as Starlight Princess, one of Pragmatic Play's best-known slots. The core rules hardly change. The setting, the RTP at Stake and where you can play do. Here's the comparison.

The short answer

Moonlight Princess

98.00% RTP at Stake

  • Released 19 October 2026
  • Moonlit castle at night
  • Only on Stake at launch
  • Medium volatility, per its own rules

Starlight Princess

About 96.50% RTP (default)

  • Released 23 September 2021
  • Anime princess in a starry sky
  • At hundreds of casinos
  • Rated very high volatility

If you can play at Stake and like the formula, Moonlight Princess gives you the same core game with a higher return. If you can't, Starlight Princess is the closest match, but check its RTP in the rules, since casinos can run lower versions.

We took the Moonlight Princess figures from its own rules screens. The Starlight Princess figures are the ones published by Pragmatic Play and major review sites for the default version. We haven't checked its full paytable, so for exact symbol pays, open the rules in the game you play.

Different volatility labels. Moonlight Princess's own rules call it medium volatility, while Starlight Princess is usually rated very high. The two labels come from different sources and scales, so treat the difference with care and judge for yourself in the demo.

The Moonlight Princess setting

Moonlight Princess moves the story to night. The grid sits in a gold frame under a full moon, with a fairy-tale castle and pine trees behind it. The princess has long golden hair, white angel wings and a star-topped staff.

Free spins change the scene to a pink and violet sunset above the clouds. A small winged cat appears on the left and holds a medal showing your total multiplier. A bolt of lightning strikes each multiplier heart as it lands.

The symbol set follows the same family as Starlight Princess: cut gems as the low symbols, and a sun, a heart, a moon and a star as the premiums.

Free spins under a pink sunset: a green winged heart marked 3x lands on the grid while a tumble pays 2.90, with 14 free spins left and the winged cat holding the total multiplier.
A 3x heart lands during free spins.

Which one should you play?

You play at Stake
Moonlight Princess. Same core rules, higher RTP, and you can try it in Fun Play first.
You can't play at Stake
Starlight Princess or Starlight Princess 1000 at a casino available to you. Check the RTP line in the rules first.
You want bigger top wins
Starlight Princess 1000 raises multipliers to 1,000x and the cap to 15,000x. Neither 5,000x game can match that.
